A few years ago I spent a week in Anson, Texas on business. During my time off I had time to explore the surrounding areas. During one my late afternoon trips I came across a large abandoned farm house near Anson, Texas.  This find happened by accident driving down a dirt road that was surrounded by recently plowed fields and a few fields ready to be plowed. On one of those roads I came across a very old abandoned farm house. Its been abandoned so long that the farmer works the land right up to the old house. Just imagine this old house surrounded by whatever current crop is about to be harvested. I hope that when I take a West, Texas Road Trip next year, that I will be able to find and visit this location if it still exists and photograph it again while surrounded by crops and not just bare soil.

The Condition of the Abandoned Farm House Near Anson, Texas

I came across this old abandoned farm house on a back road near Anson, Texas. This old house sits in the middle of a recently plowed cotton field.

When I came across this old house, I just had to stop and take a closer look. Most old farm houses are a simple ranch style with a rectangle foot print with limited lines and architectural details. But this one is different and may have been home to a wealthy farmer in the early years. But now its stills abandoned and waiting to be saved.

The house has already been salvaged and its a shell of its former self. The windows are gone. Some parts of the roof were in decent shape. But as you can see from the pictures plenty of holes.

As to its history, I can’t find any. I asked a few locals and even had help from some of the local historians that asked around. We couldn’t find any information. If you have any formation about this old house,  please contact us or comment below.

About the Images

The images were shot by hand in the later afternoon sun with my Sony Nex-3N and a Sony SEL16F28 16mm f/2.8. I then edited the images in Adobe Lightroom. Next, I post processed with Topaz Clarity to add texture, brighten, and bring out the details in the images. Then I removed the dust spots. Finally, I used Topaz DeNoise to remove the noise from the images.
