While exploring the backroads in Hunt County I came across an old farmhouse near Wolfe City. Texas. I nearly missed it and had to back up and pull off the road to take some pictures from the fence line.
Old Farmhouse Near Wolfe City, Texas – History
The farmhouse sits almost hidden from the trees that block the fence line. The view you have of the house is at the front farm gate. At the time of finding this old house, my phone was out of the service area so I couldn’t mark it for research and revisit.
As to its
age, it has the design you would have seen built about 100+ years ago. They were built to last. This one hasn’t been lived in a while. But what’s interesting is the front porch has had recent work. It looks like the posts were replaced in the last few years. There’s even been a new water meter installed.
With the house being so small and the growing trend, most new landowners in the area will mostly be a tear torn down instead of fixed up (this one looks like it could be saved) and replaced with the shiny new generic house.
I believe it was recently demolished.
About the house
I used my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS lens. The images were then edited with Adobe Lightroom CC, Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI, Aurora HDR (no longer available but still a great product), and Luminiar Neo (partner discount codes: JJOHNSTPHOTOG10 – 10% off or JJOHNSTPHOTOG – $10 off) to clean up the images.
